Professional Business / Industry (Coral Sea) SCHOLARSHIP

The Professional (Business/Industry) Coral Sea Scholarship was originally established in 1992 by the Coral Sea Commemorative Council to recognise the 50th anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea. The Scholarship fund was supported by donations by Ambassador Mel Sembler (Former U.S. Ambassador to Australia) and a group of companies including Mallesons Stephen Jaques, South Corp Brewing Holdings Ltd, The Gandel Charitable Trust, BHP, Arthur Anderson, Coles Myer, and Coca-Cola Amatil.

This Scholarship is open to Australian citizens who are junior/middle level professionals from public, private and not-for-profit fields to study and/or research an identified problem or opportunity relevant to Australian industry or business. Previous Coral Sea Scholars have combined a short course of study or research at a U.S. educational institution with a visit to a variety of U.S. companies and organisations.

Applicants must have an undergraduate qualification with superior academic results from a recognised institution. They should also have business experience relevant to their proposed field of investigation. Preference will be given to those who have a record of achievement and are poised for advancement to senior levels.

This Scholarship is for 3 to 4 months duration. Programs of longer duration may be proposed but financial support will be limited to the 4 months.

2003 Dr Neil Ackland NSW Treasury Research on structural change in rural regions and the policy options available to governments to facilitate adjustment, Georgetown University and US Department of Agriculture.
