Fulbright Scholars are members of one of the most prestigious academic communities in the world and through the Australian Fulbright Alumni Association (AFAA) their Fulbright experiences are continually enriched by belonging to a network of some of the most talented and accomplished people across Australia and the U.S.
The AFAA facilitates academic, professional and social activities in Australia and the U.S. for Fulbright Scholars, Alumni and friends and partners. It provides a network of Fulbright scholars, from those who undertook their scholarships in the early days of the program more than 60 years ago to present scholars, in all fields of study, and at various stages of their academic and professional careers.
We aim to promote and support continuing relationships among those who have been involved in the Fulbright Program. In addition to serving those who have undertaken their Fulbright Scholarships in years gone by, the AFAA also supports regular functions throughout the year in Australia and the U.S. to recognise and welcome the new Fulbright scholars from both countries.
The AFAA also generates funds to support Fulbright Scholarships. The Fulbright Australian Alumni (WG Walker) Scholarship for Australians and the Fulbright U.S. Alumni Scholarship for an American Scholar are a positive way for Fulbright Alumni to contribute and provide a Fulbright experience for future talented young Australians and Americans.
Chapters of the AFAA
The AFAA has established both Australian State Chapters and U.S. Regional Chapters to coordinate a range of professional and social activities to engage with Fulbright Scholars, alumni and the Australian and U.S. Consulates and Embassies. To ensure you receive updated information on the Fulbright Program and invitations to all the Fulbright events, join the AFAA.
Friends of Fulbright
The Association welcomes individuals who are interested and supportive of the Fulbright Program and its mission. Friends of Fulbright generally include former Board Members; Selection Committee Members; Sponsors, Australian and U.S. business, government, and educational representatives; or interested individuals. They are invited to Fulbright events and have the opportunity to network with the Fulbright community.
