The twenty-one outstanding Americans who have received prestigious Fulbright Scholarships to Australia in 2007 will begin arriving from early July.

The Fulbright Scholarships, worth up to $A40,000, allow each Scholar to study and research in their chosen field in Australia for up to twelve months.

The Scholars come from across America and include postgraduate researchers, senior academics and the ANU Distinguished Chair.

They will study at universities across the country from Tasmania to Victoria to New South Wales and Queensland.

The Australian-American Fulbright Commission Executive Director, Mr Mark Darby, in welcoming the American Scholars said they are an example of the breadth and diversity in research currently taking place in the Australia.

“These U.S. Scholars will study a broad range of fields, including web-casted performances, bush fire management, film-making, biotechnology, autonomous vehicle formations, heart disease and ecosystems in the Great Barrier Reef.”

“They have chosen Australia, over 150 other countries, as their host country to take advantage of Australia’s world renowned specialists, laboratories, environments and unique communities. Through their research they will develop long-term collaborations and partnerships and create tangible outcomes for Australia and America,” said Mr Darby.
