PROFESSIONAL SCHOLARSHIP IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Sponsored by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR)

This Scholarship is for employees within the vocational education and training sector or training leaders in business and industry. It is also for staff within universities that teach in the TAFE sector of a university, but not for university academics that study VET as an academic discipline. Other examples include:

  • employees, including teachers, managers, and administrators, of private and public registered training organisations.
  • people who are leading vocational education and training strategies within their business.

Preference will be given to those who have a record of achievement and are poised for advancement to senior levels.

What is Vocational Education and Training?

Vocational education and training (VET) is post-compulsory education and training, (excluding degree and higher level programs delivered by higher education institutions), which provides people with occupational or work-related knowledge and skills. VET also includes programs which provide the basis for subsequent vocational programs. Alternative terms used internationally include technical and vocational education and training (TVET), vocational and technical education and training (VTET), technical and vocational education (TVE), vocational and technical education and training (VTE), and further education and training (FET).

Industry leadership is a key feature of Australia's national vocational education and training system. Nationally recognised portable qualifications are based on demonstrated competence. Skills-based training and assessment occur around competency outcomes identified by industry.
