The Fulbright Queensland Scholarship Fund was announced at the Fulbright Presentation Dinner in Brisbane 24 May 2007. It was made possible through a contribution of $250,000 from the Queensland government, announced by The Hon John Mickel MP, Minister for Industrial Relations.
This matched a similar collective contribution from the Queensland based universities, including Bond University; Central Queensland University; Griffith University, James Cook University; Queensland University of Technology; Southern Queensland University; The University of Queensland; and The University of the Sunshine Coast.
This fund will annually support a Fulbright Queensland Scholarship in perpetuity.
The Fulbright Queensland Scholarship provides an opportunity for a talented Queensland resident to undertake postgraduate study or research in the United States for eight to twelve months. The Scholarship is open to any field of study.
Projects for this scholarship need to focus on topics or issues relevant to Queensland, and applicants are required to clearly articulate the benefits of this research to the state, as well as Australia.
