"Our future is not in the stars but in our own minds and hearts. Creative leadership and liberal education, which in fact go together, are the first requirements for a hopeful future for humankind. Fostering these - leadership, learning and empathy between cultures - was and remains the purpose of [this] international scholarship program."
J. William Fulbright
Established in 1946 by Senator J. William Fulbright and the United States Government, the Fulbright Program is the largest international educational exchange program in the world.
The Fulbright Program has a rich history that saw its establishment after the end of World War II and its subsequent growth throughout the world.
Now operating between the United States and over 150 countries worldwide, the Fulbright Program is supported by a wide range of Fulbright organisations.
The Australian-American Fulbright Commission is proud to be one of those organisations having supported over 2,500 Australians and 1,800 Americans to study in our respective countries since it was established in 1949.
