On 7 November 2010, during her visit to Australia, U.S. Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton together with Prime Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard announced a joint funding initiative to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Australian Fulbright Program. Both governments pledged $75,000 per year each over 3 years for a combined total of $450,000 to create new Fulbright Scholarships in Climate Change and Clean Energy. The new scholarships will be part of a major collaboration between the two countries to tackle the critical issue of climate change.
These valuable scholarships will support talented U.S. and Australian Scholars to undertake a study or research program in the partner country with the objective of increasing collaboration on clean energy research and to address the social challenges of responding and adapting to the impact of climate change.
