Timeline for 2009 Scholarship selection

June 1 Applications open
August 31 Applications close
September - October

State Selection Committees conduct interviews of short listed POSTGRADUATE and POSTDOCTORAL applicants ONLY.

Interview dates for 2009 Scholarships are:

  • WA: 24 Sept
  • SA: 25 Sept
  • ACT: 25 Sept
  • Vic: 26 Sept
  • Tas: 29 Sept
  • Qld: 3 Oct
  • NSW: 1-2 Oct

Short listed Postgraduate and Postdoctoral applicants must attend an interview with their relevant State Selection Committee.

Senior Scholar and Professional candidates are not interviewed.

November The National Selection Committee reviews shortlisted Postgraduate, Postdoctoral and all Senior Scholar applications and put forward selection to Fulbright Commission Board who also choose the Professional Scholarship winners.
December All Scholarship applicants are notified (Postgraduate, Postdoctoral, Senior Scholar and Professional categories).
July 1 – June 30 Fulbright Scholarships are to be taken-up in the following year after 1 July . Scholarships can be started anytime after 1 July and before 30 June, the following year. (Note: For coursework, U.S. academic semesters commence in August and January.)
