The Australian-American Fulbright Commission is a non-profit organisation established in 1949 through a binational treaty between the Australian and U.S. Governments to administer the Fulbright Program in Australia. Based in Canberra, the capital of Australia, the Commission is funded by the Australian and U.S. Governments and a select group of companies and organisations. It is managed by a Board of Directors and the Commission Staff.
The worldwide Fulbright Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with the assistance of binational Fulbright Commissions, such as the Australian-American Fulbright Commission, Public Affairs Sections of the U.S. Embassies and several cooperating organisations in the United States.
The Australian Program is part of the East Asia Pacific (EAP) Fulbright region. The table below outlines the organisations involved in the administration of the Fulbright Program.
