2018 Fulbright State Scholarship Opportunities

The Fulbright State scholarships aim to encourage and profile research relevant to each state or territory, and assist in the building of international research links with between a given state / territory and U.S. research institutions. These scholarships are supported by state or territory governments, companies, universities, private donors and other stakeholders.

To be eligible for a Fulbright State Scholarship an applicant must:

  • reside in the applicable state or territory at the time of submission of an application, with a commitment to return to the state or territory following the Fulbright Scholarship period; and
  • be employed by an institution, organisation or community in that state or territory that will benefit from the proposed Fulbright program.

Benefits, rights and responsibilities, and duration of State and Territory based scholarships are as per the applicable category’s general scholarship.

Who can apply?

State and Territory scholarships go across multiple categories – please see below to determine your eligibility (if you’re not sure which category is applicable to you, please return to the Australian Applicants page for more information.)

  • Australian Capital Territory
    This scholarship is available to applicants across all four categories (Postgraduate, Postdoctoral, Professional and Senior). The project must align with the ACT Government’s aim to boost entrepreneurial capability, support innovative companies and start-ups, and create bilateral commercial opportunities.
  • New South Wales
    Available to Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Applicants ONLY
  • Northern Territory
    This scholarship is available to applicants across all four categories (Postgraduate, Postdoctoral, Professional and Senior)
  • Queensland
    Available to Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Applicants ONLY
  • South Australia
    Available to Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Applicants ONLY
  • Tasmania
    This scholarship is available to applicants across all four categories (Postgraduate, Postdoctoral, Professional and Senior)
  • Victoria
    Available to Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Applicants ONLY
  • Western Australia
    Available to Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Applicants ONLY
